Matsalen is a modern gastronomic restaurant. Our cuisine is based on using the best fresh produce available here and now in Sweden and other parts of the world, spiced with curiosity and inspiration from everything we encounter.

“The natural cuisine” is a menu that changes with nature and the seasons. We pair wine, beer and other beverages with each of the dishes we create.

All the producers we work with are meticulously selected, they produce something we like. Our menus and drink offering – like the fresh produce – are living and change with the time of the year.

Matbaren

Matbaren is a modern bistro. Our cuisine is based on using the best fresh produce available here and now in Sweden and other parts of the world, spiced with curiosity and inspiration from everything we encounter.

Matbaren offers a selection of medium-sized dishes. Enjoy one or several, in whatever order you like, depending on your appetite and mood. We are happy to recommend wine, beer or other beverages that we think are a good match to your food.

Matbordet

Around Matbordet (the Dining Table) we are creating a here-and-now experience in collaboration with our guests, featuring seasonal produce, insight into the culinary process and up close expertise that brings lively discussions. A new and exciting dining experience.

Matbordet has room for 10 guests and will feature different happenings on a daily basis. We are currently starting out with three basic activities: on Thursdays and Fridays we will be breaking bread with new acquaintances, cooking food using five different types of produce in “5 Produces.” On Wednesdays we will be sharing knowledge through “Cooking with friends,” on Mondays and Tuesdays the chef has free rein in “Radical cooking,” and the last Saturday of each month we serve a luxurious brunch. Other times Matbordet will function as Mathias Dahlgren’s development kitchen. 
Make sure to get in touch if you have any fun ideas for activities around Matbordet that we can bring into reality together!

Matbordet, we will be working with the best fresh produce available right now, which is why we will not be offering a set menu. Furthermore, the price will vary depending on the activity, the expertise at hand and the fresh produce of the day. Please notice that we speak Swedish and English around Matbordet.

 

Cooking with friends

What constitutes a meal today and how will the meal as a concept evolve in the future? In Cooking with friends, we eat together, during which a specially invited guest will share his or her special expertise and experience. Cooking with friends is about learning from each other: guests, chefs, ideologists, scientists and producers.

Radical cooking

We decide what you will be eating. Every Monday and Tuesday one of our chefs will be challenging himself by creating a dish in less than one hour and pairing it with a beverage.

So on Mondays and Tuesdays it will not be possible to take any food allergies or special food requests into consideration as the challenge is built around a single dish.

5 Produces

Get to know the ingredients, follow the process from fresh to cooked and share the experience with other people. This is a dining experience in which conversation and encounters with others are key ingredients.

We select five produce items based on what is in season and what tastes best right now.

The last Saturday of each month we invite you to a luxurious brunch at Matbordet. From seasonal produce, we create a memorable experience, with new encounters and lively discussions.

Matbordet is a place for discussions and knowledge sharing, ideal for both private dinners and business activities, daytime or in the evening. Based on your thoughts and ideas, we create an attractive event.

Wine cellar

Our large, rustic wine cellar has a charming inner chamber that can accommodate parties of up to 12, for those looking for a more private setting. From Matbarens kitchen, we will put together a menu based on the best fresh produce the season has to offer.

We can also assist you in tailoring a wine & beverage pairing to further enhance your gastronomic experience, under the guidance of our sommelier Johan Andersson.

How to find us

Mathias Dahlgren is located on the ground floor of the Grand Hôtel, to the right of the main entrance, at Södra Blasieholmshamnen 6 in Stockholm.

Drop-in

In Matbaren we always have a number of unbooked seats around the bar when we open.

Party size

At Matsalen we accommodate parties of up to 6 people. In order to stimulate new encounters and interesting conversation at Matbordet we are limiting the number of seats to a maximum of 4 per group. At Matbaren we accommodate parties of up to 12, depending on the day of the week. We also accommodate parties of 12 in our wine cellar. Reservations for larger parties can only by made by telephone.
